After a diverse rotation plan to a long list of European destinations*, Thessaloniki will be the next host city for the EARLI Biennial Conference for Research on Learning and Instruction!
SYMVOLI | Conference and Cultural Management, after a successful bidding process, is proud to undertake the designing, planning and organizing this large-scale event: a 7-day conference of 25 parallel rooms hosting 500 sessions in total, attended by more than 2000 participants from 60 countries worldwide.
Τhe 20th Biennial European Conference for Research on Learning and Instruction (EARLI 2023) is jointly organized by the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, the University of Macedonia and the European Association for Research on Learning and Instruction (EARLI), and chaired by Prof. Eleftheria N. Gonida as President (School of Psychology, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki) and Prof. Maria Platsidou as Vice-President (Lifespan Developmental Psychology Department, University of Macedonia). The conference’s core programme will take place from 22nd to 26th of August 2023, while it will be preceded by the 27th JURE Pre-Conference for the Junior Researchers of EARLI. The 2023 edition of the event will be the first on site conference of the association after the pandemic, highly anticipated by the scientific community and professionals of the field.
European Association for Research on Learning and Instruction (EARLI)
The European Association for Research on Learning and Instruction (EARLI) is an international, scientific community with primary goal to support an active research culture in the field of learning and instruction. The aim of EARLI is to promote an active educational research culture and to encourage systematic exchange and discussion on diverse instructional and educational research. The EARLI community welcomes currently up to 2800 members from all parts of Europe and overseas. International and interdisciplinary co-operation between researchers is facilitated by means of various activities, among which the EARLI Biennial Conference is the most important meeting platform of the EARLI community.
EARLI 2023
EARLI 2023 will provide an excellent forum to share knowledge, exchange ideas, and discuss the most recent research advances on learning and instruction including issues related to the COVID-19 pandemic and its impact on education. Under the title “Education as a hope in uncertain times” the conference’s central theme aims to stimulate dialogue about the constantly changing learning and teaching environments: students, teachers, and parents are facing several challenges in coping with and adapting to these transformations. Under this uncertainty, education can be hope for the future, and schools can become vehicles of power for positive changes in the society. In this context of critical reflection, the conference intents to become a meeting place and networking platform for scientists and professionals from the field of education, mental health, and the wider community.
Apart from a unique chance for Thessaloniki to host such a large-scale event and an organizational challenge for SYMVOLI | Conference & Cultural Management, EARLI 2023 is also a positive indication for the post-covid era in the MICE industry, marking the return to normality and on-site meetings.
