1st Northern Greece Symposium on Thalassaemia and Sickle Cell Disease

The Northern Greece Symposium on Thalassaemia and Sickle Cell Disease was organized by the Greek Thalassaemia Association on 6-8 May 2022 in the city of Alexandroupolis, Greece. The first day was completed with important lectures on Blood Donation and the management of paediatric patients with haemoglobinopathies. On the second day, a number of great physicians from the Mediterranean Anemia Units and non-Mediterranean Anemia Units informed the participants about the medical developments concerning their health issues.

During the Opening Ceremony of the Symposium, the International Thalassaemia Federation presented the dimension of the disease all over the world and the theme of this year’s celebration of the World Thalassaemia Day, while in a thrilling atmosphere, Volunteer Blood Donors and the retired doctor of the Mediterranean Anemia Unit of the Xanthi Hospital were awarded – honoured.
